The story of our Jamaican place
Hello, I’m Stafford Geohagen and I’m excited to share Healthy Eaters’ story with you. Back in 2003, inspired by my wife Rose’s passion for cooking, we decided to start a business that provides healthy, balanced meals for a diverse community. Although I was a novice in the kitchen, I supported my wife’s dream 100%. We began by serving poultry, fish, and vegetables and later added more meat to the menu.
Starting out as market traders on Brixton Station Road, we cooked out of our one-bedroom flat in Stockwell and sold our food to the local community for six years. In 2009, we moved to Electric Avenue with a takeaway shop. Recently, we’ve expanded into a new restaurant in Market Row in Brixton Village, so that we can provide a full dining experience in the evenings and weekends.
Our goal as a restaurant and takeaway is to provide an experience that goes beyond food. We want to showcase the culture, music, and community that make Brixton special.
We love Brixton, which has one of the strongest Afro-Caribbean communities in the UK. We feel proud to be part of this melting pot of culture, and to serve the diverse audience of Brixton residents and visitors. It’s a privilege to showcase Jamaican food and culture in such a vibrant community. Being part of Brixton’s Afro-Caribbean community means a lot to us, and we’re honoured to contribute to it.
We can’t wait to share our authentic Jamaican cuisine with you all, so come on by and join us for a delicious meal!

our authentic charcoal jerk bbq
Our signature dish, jerk, is a heavenly blend of zesty Scotch bonnet chilies and spices, cooked on our charcoal BBQ – we use an authentic Jamaican steel drum in our kitchen. Our jerk recipe has been passed down through our family for generations, the recipe is a closely-guarded secret, known only to our family.

Rock down to Electric Avenue! and then take in some of the best food in London..and definitely London's best Jamaican food! Oxtail, jerk chicken, rice and peas, calaloo, plantain, homemade fruit punch, and homemade desserts (bread pudding, potato pudding, and carrot cake), etc. were all superb! The wonderful owners and friendly staff create a fantastic atmosphere. You must stop here in London and afterwards stop by the vendors at Brixton Market....

Don’t get me started on the jerk chicken and peas and rice 😮💨😮💨😮💨 absolutely delicious. All the way from Australia I’m delaying my flight home so I can get one more meal. The total price for this experience was TREMENDOUS, soft music in the background..I could talk and talk about the ambience, chilled vibe....etc. All in all , just go and visit. Taste, hot, fresh ,fabulous food. Get some Brixton local knowledge.......JUST GOOOOO. Thank you Rose and Stafford

Source: Google reviewWhat can I say, this was some amazing Jamaican food. The ackee and salt fish and the fried plantains were my favourites. The service was fast and the food was so well seasoned. I was only in town for 4 days but I had to go back a second time to get my fix.

Source: Google reviewI had a lovely meal from Healthy Eaters Brixton yesterday. Jerk chicken, coleslaw with rice and peas specially delivered by my mum who had a meal in the restaurant. It was full of flavour, a nice portion and packaged up nicely. Mum said her meal was also delicious (stew peas and rice), so next time we’re in the area we’ll be popping in to try something else.
